...because sometimes the pavements look like they are paved in gold...

...because 23rd April is the day Barcelona IS Besotted...

Libros, Rosas y Besos
The 23rd of April is the day of the Patron Saint of Cataluña, Saint George, Sant Jordi in Catalan. On 23rd April, 303 Saint George slayed the dragon and saved the Princess. It is a lot like Saint Valentines Day. It is the day of the Rose and the Book, when boys give girls a rose and girls give boys a book and the streets are filled with stalls of books and roses. Today is the day of celebratating love and friendship!

...because this man can find you love (?)...

....get rid of 'evil eyes' and deal with all matters of Tirada General (which is funny to me because tirar means 'to throw', so he will deal with all 'throw away' stuff!). Master Joao does this by reading your cards, blessing Jesus, lighting a sacred incense and rubbing Buddha's belly. All on the small screen. He has it covered!

...because the Farmacia wraps pills like a present!...

...I don't know if that is a good thing!?
And I keep going back because the shop is just so beautiful and quaint. It is a perfect example of functioning modernist architecture.  There is the trompe l'oeil on the ceiling, the decorative carved-wood Art Noveau shelving, the lovely Catalan Pharmacist, the drugs are cheap (cheaper than Australia) and... they wrap them like a present!
Now, what else do i need?!

...from the hammock on the terraza (now open for verano) and the most perfect place for a siesta... a little piece of blissful paradise.

... because north is Figueres...."Dali-World"...

Even Figueres has a Wisteria Lane... (& Desperate Housewives?)

Two hours north by train- 2 and half if you go on a public holiday and they are doing works on the line and you have to transfer to a bus, which they only tell you about after you have bought a ticket-  is Figueres.   It is the birthplace of Salvador Dali and here there is a large gallery and museuem which he designed.
If Barcelona is  Gaudi-land, Figueres is Dali-world! And worth a visit!
