....because of the tapas and wine at Perikete....

... Perikete, is tucked in the island between El Born and Barceloneta, is a buzzing tapas bar full of colour and music, tapas and wine. A great place to sit and watch the world pass by while sipping sangria and nibbling on patatas bravas...or croquettes... or jamón, of course...

...because of El Nou Ramonet.......

...I am always discovering something new in Barceloneta, and El Nou Ramonet is one delicious discovery. In one of the little backstreets of the barrio, this cosy restaurant serves a fusion of modern Catalan seafood dishes away from the maddening crowds of Paseo Joan de Borbo.

...because of Cala de Vermut.......

...a new discovery but an old and enchanting gem. This little friendly, family run tapas and vermut bar is located close to the busy centre but yet tucked away in a quiet side street nearby. It has vermut on tap, a delicious selection of fresh tapas and some charming Costa Brava wall murals which all make for a unique and recomendable tapas experience.

...because of the cool ceveseria, Vinitus...

... one of my all time favourite tapas bars (and also the first one I ever went to), Ceveseria Catalana, has opened a cool cousin on Consell de Cent called Vinitus. The same tasty tapas, efficent service but in a uber chic setting. Good for lunch, dinner or anytime of the afternoon for a wine and a tapas. Definitely a new favourite!

....because the most excellent tapas bar, Cañete....

A place of passion for good quality, traditional, market fresh produce and the flavours that they offer.  It is a place to enjoy the full experience of tapas - to watch the chefs cook, to discuss the daily specials with the camareros, to share the tapas among friends. THIS is Spanish dining!

…because of La Bar Plata, since 1945….

….owned and operated by the same family and serving the same tapas menu since they started in 1945. An authentic institution tucked in Calle Merce and offerering a true tapas experience - a quick stop for a chat, a wine and a tapa.
