...because of a diversion to the South of Spain...

Andalucía and the Fería de Jerez.  In the same country as Barcelona but another Spain, filled with flamenco and horses and sherry. Barcelona does not have these fairs and this was a great opportunity to see one, it was colourful and fun and I was almost besotted!

(I have a lot to learn about flamenco dancing!)

...because of the oldest little cava bar in Born, El Xampanyet...

...El Xampanyet, located in Calle Montcada, has been a Barcelona tapas institution since it opened in 1929. It is famous for its Cantabrian anchovies and cheap cava. It is small and cosy and almost always crowded, which is part of the charm.

...because of brunch & more at Brunchalona....

... brunch & lunch,  coffee & cupcakes, drinks & doughnuts. Lots of good things to eat all day, including brunch (until 20.30h). There is something very good and delicious going on here- this is not their only location, there are 2 x Cup&Cakes and a Brunch&Cake.

...not because Barcelona was burning....

Yesterday was MayDay, a fiesta (Workers holiday) and there were demonstrations and protests in the morning. In the afternoon we watched, in shock, as black smoke started billowing in various places in El Born (rubbish bins).  There were about 6 fires, lots of sirens and helicopters and it was all soon contained.

Poor Barcelona! Not besotted by vandals.  X
