... because north is Figueres...."Dali-World"...

Even Figueres has a Wisteria Lane... (& Desperate Housewives?)

Two hours north by train- 2 and half if you go on a public holiday and they are doing works on the line and you have to transfer to a bus, which they only tell you about after you have bought a ticket-  is Figueres.   It is the birthplace of Salvador Dali and here there is a large gallery and museuem which he designed.
If Barcelona is  Gaudi-land, Figueres is Dali-world! And worth a visit!

... Sant Pol de Mar... perfect for paella, playa, siesta...

Banys Lluis, on the beach at Sant Pol. Open everyday of the year!

Sant Pol de Mar is a picturesque seaside pueblo located north of Barcelona on the Costa Brava. It is a scenic one hour train ride along the coast to the beautiful beach.
The restaurant Banys Lluis is fantastic because
1.it is situated on the beach
2. it serves delicious fresh paella and
3. it is open on Fiesta days!

...because I found VEGEMITE!!!...

*UPDATE January 2014* - unfortunately The Deli Shop no longer stocks Vegemite. My search starts again for where to get it, please let me know if you find it!*

An Australian can never be homesick with a jar of Vegemite in the cupboard!! Found in a great little shop with lots of international supplies to keep the guiris (foreignors that live here) happy when they may occasionally weary of the mediteranean diet - pan, tomate, olivas and jamón.

...because the Arc de Triompf is perfect to run around on a sunny Sunday...

The Arc de Triompf is situated next to the old city, El Borne.  The Arch was designed by Catalan architect Josep Vilaseca.  It was built in 1888 to serve as the entrance to the World Expo which was being held in Parc de Ciutadella (I will run around that next week, it is a bit further on!).  It is beautiful way to enter a Sunday!
