..because below the Barcelona of today ...

...is the Barcelona of old, and now it is proudly on display in the new Cultural Centre in El Born.  What started as a remodelling of the Born Market, was redirected when ruins from 17th century city were discovered.   Instead of a new market, a Cultural Centre was created to celebrate the old history of Barcelona. While I personally would have enjoyed it being a market, this centre provides some interesting insights into the phsyical and political developments of Barcelona and Catlunya.

...because of the festival that celebrates the city...

...La Mercé, the annual festival dating back from 1871 celebrates Barcelona culture, old and new.  The city streets and seas are filled with traditional festivities and modern tastes.
Barcelona is a buzz!!!

..because of my Balearic paradise, Formentera...

... it is rustic, it is desolate and it is beautiful. It is a place to disconnect and unwind and to enjoy its serentity and the magic of its beautiful crystal clear waters. It is very special and it is my paradise.

...because of the ancient bathes of Aire de Barcelona...

... buried in El Born is 'Aire de Barcelona', an old bathouse that is now a spa with a variety of pools of different degrees.  A blissful way to submerge underground and underwater, under Barcelona in a tranquil sanctury.

...because of the buildings that make the Museo Picasso....

... the 5 old palaces (13-15th century) in Calle Montcada that make up the present Musuem are as interesting and beautiful as the Art they now house.  Hundreds of years of history...if only these walls that tell the stories of Picasso, could also tell the stories of all they have seen...
