...because there is more to La Merce...

... the fiesta of La Merce continues in the parks, in the streets... there is art, there is music, there are giant people and parades. There is something for everyone and everyone comes out to celebrate and to see!

...because, in a second, the wind changed and Autumn arrived...

.

... precisely on Wednesday 26th September at 16h.  A strong wind came in, blew summer away and Autumn in.  Just like that.

...because they light up the Sagrada Familia to music..

..as part of the festivities for La Merce
La Merce is the celebration of the patron Saint of Barcelona district, Virgin of Mercy (as opposed to Saint Euláila the patrón saint of the city and Sant Jordi, the parton saint of Cataluña). It is held on the 24th September every year and every year there is a feast of free spectacular shows, concerts, parades and fireworks around the city. This was just one of them and it was brillant.

...because the Baleares have the most beautiful beaches...

...possibly anywhere in the world. The water really is this blue.
Just 20 minutes by plane (to Ibiza), followed by 30 minutes on a ferry, is the little island paradise of Formentera.  We do have beaches this blue in Australia but our waters come with sharks and crocodiles and lots of poisonous things.

...because paradise is a little island called Formentera...

Formentera, is a tiny island (19km long, 9800 population)just a short plane trip from Barcelona. It is tranquil, rustic and relaxed... a little bit of summer paradise.

....because of another day means another hotel roof terrace...

Located in a newer part of town, is the Hotel Silken Diagonal, completed in 2004. It is adjacent the impressive torre Agbar and from its terrace you can view all of beautiful Barcelona.  Another great terrace.

...because we could get 'arty' at the LV windows...

Louis Vuitton has collaborated with avante-guarde Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama, to create a collection for the label. Her quirky polka dot art decorates the windows and at night can be a backdrop for a (fun) photo opportunity!

...because my Hotel Roof Terrace Mission continues..

Another night, another breathtaking view of Barcelona.
The Hotel Duquesa De Cardona overlooks the port and you can see from Montjuic to the towers of Port Olimpic. The building, completes in 1850 was once the home for the noble Cardona family. Now a luxury hotel with beautiful terrace.
