...because on St Jordi Day, the Town Hall is open...

... and it is very impressive,  imbedded with the history of Barcelona.  It is not only a day of books and roses (and kinghts slaying dragons! Every Dia de St Jordi, (23 April) the Ayuntamiento  and Generalitat open their doors to the public. It is well worth the visit (although I didn't find my knight in shining armour there!!)

..because below the Barcelona of today ...

...is the Barcelona of old, and now it is proudly on display in the new Cultural Centre in El Born.  What started as a remodelling of the Born Market, was redirected when ruins from 17th century city were discovered.   Instead of a new market, a Cultural Centre was created to celebrate the old history of Barcelona. While I personally would have enjoyed it being a market, this centre provides some interesting insights into the phsyical and political developments of Barcelona and Catlunya.
