Baluard bakery, a Barceloneta institution that bakes the best bread in the barrio (neighbourhood) - as seen by the queue that it always has! Artesinal bread, pastries and bocadillos that are worth the wait!

..because of a very Barceloneta breakfast...

…not a breakfast (for me) everyday but in the back streets of Barceloneta is this institution that serves food all day.  A place frequented by night shift workers who finish their day in the morning, it is also a place to have a very Spanish breakfast - sardines fresh from the sea, calamari, jamón, eggs... and wine! Delicious!

...the vermuteria, cafe and tapas bar is located in Sant Pere Més Alt, by the quaint little Passatge Sert. Open all day, this pretty and chic place is a highlight on the street; serving vermut, wine, their artisinal sangría and tapas all day. (Even better, is that it is close to me and my new favourite place to go.)

Located down a little laneway off Paseo de Gracia, El Nacional- once a run-down car parking space- has been remodelled as the new glamorous and innovative place to have a coffee, to have a wine or to dine. There are a variety of different zones within the space - 4 restaurants and 4 bars - offering a variety of culinary and drinking options. The industrialist building, which first opened as a Theatre (1870-1900),has also been a fabric factory, a a car dealership and a car parking space, and it now has a new life as a beautiful dining space.

...a cool little bar that serves both cocktails and crepes. Artisanal and delicious. It is a different concept (one I hadn't thought about) but they make it work.   - you can combine cocktails and crepes!!
