...because of a Cook-in sushi class...

...down in the depths of Barrio Gotic, not too far from Ramblas, hidden behind the graffiti door, is where one can learn the art of making sushi, tempura and other japanese delicacies... from a Catalan with a passion.   Jordi hosts cooking nights where he cooks and teaches and we watch- and cook (optional)- and eat (some of the best sushi I have ever eaten!). Fun and delicious...  what more can one ask for from a class!

...because of beatuiful Barcelona by boat...

... for a different perspective on this city, sailing on a summer-like November day (even warm enough for a very quick dip!)  What a treat! Follwed by a spectacular sunset in the port... Beautiful Barcelona at its best!

...because you can get fresh milk...

...at Vallflorit, in picturesque C. Mendez Nuñez, it is a little store stocking natural products straight from the Catalan countryside.  Best of all they have a fresh milk delivery every Thursday and Saturday - take a bottle and have it filled.  In a country where fresh milk is not the norm, this shop is a treat.

...because now I know where I am!

...in Arc de Triomf there is a new map of the 'old' and 'new' Barcelona.  In keeping with celebrating the culture you can now walk all over the city (in a matter of minutes!!)

..because below the Barcelona of today ...

...is the Barcelona of old, and now it is proudly on display in the new Cultural Centre in El Born.  What started as a remodelling of the Born Market, was redirected when ruins from 17th century city were discovered.   Instead of a new market, a Cultural Centre was created to celebrate the old history of Barcelona. While I personally would have enjoyed it being a market, this centre provides some interesting insights into the phsyical and political developments of Barcelona and Catlunya.
